DDI’s Performance Management System Training-Maximazing Performance
Maximizing Performance training can be presented in a classroom setting or via workbook and video-based self-study. It consists of training in all three phases of the performance management cycle: planning, performing, and reviewing. The Planning Phase shows how performance management helps associates contribute to strategic priorities and department or functional area goals. Participants learn hands-on skills to:
- Identify their most important areas of responsibility and develop measurable goals.
- Identify the competencies they need to accomplish their objectives and live the values of the organization.
- Create a development plan that helps them improve their skills in particular competencies.
- Lead a discussion with their leader to reach agreement on their performance plans.
The Performing Phase explains how associates can effectively monitor their performance in order to meet or exceed established goals. They learn skills to:
- Monitor their performance through specific tracking tools.
- Participate in interim performance reviews.
- Ask for feedback on their competencies.
- Seek and receive coaching from others.
- Provide coaching and feedback to others who seek it.
The Reviewing Phase explains how to lead review discussions and plan for future development. Participants learn how to:
- Make the best use of their leader’s time by taking full responsibility for gathering data, providing self-ratings, and leading the review discussion.
- Assess the data they’ve collected and determine their level of performance or achievement.
- Prepare for and lead a performance review discussion based on performance data and demonstration of targeted competencies.
The training includes written and video exercises, positive video models, case studies, and can be delivered in a two-days or one-day format. Target audience for Maximizing Performance includes all associates in your organization. Most of the training is focused on providing skills for the individual who will be managing his or her own performance. Additional leader's tips address the leader's role in helping associates plan, monitor, and review their performance.
